While studying herbalism, I was overwhelmed by pictures of a million different plants.  Trying desperately to absorb all of them, I started noticing plants I've seen in my books around my property. While taking a walk with my husband around our property, I recognized this plant across our property line in my neighbors field.  I knew this plant was purposeful, but I couldn't put my finger on what plant it was or what the benefits were.  As soon as we got home, I opened my books and found what it was.  This plant was growing in my neighbors field and I needed it.  Luckily when we asked our neighbor if we could transplant it into our garden, he thought we were crazy and said go for it.  St. John's Wort is a powerhouse plant when it comes to pain.  Sharp pain, shooting pain, sprains, nerve pain, carpal tunnel, sciatica, and even hemorrhoid pain.  St. John's Wort is also effective in lifting your mood and depression.  I personally have lower back pain from inflammation dealing with scoliosis, so I knew I needed to have this plant on hand.  Thanks to our neighbor, we have this plant thriving in our herb garden and I've even found individual plants popping up in our field to forage during a walk around our property.
